Right now in Michigan, we are experiencing quite a heat wave, with no end in sight. Weather like this and really all summer long, is the perfect time to embrace a lighter, more natural approach to makeup. No one wants their makeup melting off in the high heat and humidity. A simple skincare and makeup routine can help your feel comfortable and look polished this summer.

From cleansing and moisturizing to eyeshadow and mascara, here are our favorite summer beauty essentials that we use and recommend. One thing we always consider is, how easy a product is to apply and remove, treating mature skin with care. Cleansing-Serum-Moisturizer-Sunscreen

Healthy, clean skin is the foundation of beautiful makeup. During the summer months, sweat, sunscreen, and makeup can build up throughout the day, making cleansing especially important. Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm and Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm both remove makeup gently from mature skin. A bonus- both smell great!!

Tinted Moisturizers – Concealers

Some foundations can be too heavy and particularly in the summer. A tinted moisturizer is a wonderful option. They hydrate, look so natural and feel lightweight.

The two we share below also have sunscreen in as well.

If you need additional coverage, find a concealer that is designed for mature skin. We found the Prime Prometics Undereye Brightening Corrector and love it. Use it also as a concealer/primer on the top lid as well-Bev does. Included below is a favorite concealer by YSL- Touche Eclat.

Cream Blush and Bronzer

A favorite makeup for summer is cream blush. The cream formula glides on leaving a dewey finish. Apply with a brush for a lighter touch. Trish McEvoy has a great cream blush and brush.

For a bronzer, we have selected a powder Bronzer. Our friend Laurie, a brow specialist and makeup artist recommended one similar to this from Guerlain. Her tips are softly brush across the forehead, tip of nose and chin for a natural look where the sun actually hits your face. Too much bronzer can make your face look dirty.

Pencils- Eyeliner and Shadow

One of the most important features we look for in an eyeliner and eyeshadow pencil is how smooth and easy they can be applied and removed. Prime Prometics has a wonderful eyeliner PrimeEyes Glide Eyeliner for Mature Women. You can choose from many colors. Below are more brands that ones we use.
