- January 12, 2022
Dry cracked lips are certainly a side effect of frigid temperatures, lack of humidity, cranked up furnaces and FACE MASKS!!!! We certainly do not look forward to dry lip season as not only do your lips look irritated and cracked but it hurts! When the lips crack at the corners it becomes increasingly worse. We have done some research and feel we have various solutions for this irritating problem!
Fun Facts About Lips:
Lips have no oil glands
Lips dry out ten times faster then the rest of the skin on the face
Basic Suggestions For The Lips:
Do not lick your lips
Use a balm, ointment based product with sunscreen
Do not use lip scrub if your lips are peeling
Stay away from balms that contain camphor, eucalyptus, and menthol
Be vigilant about treating chapped lips
Always keep a lip balm by your bed, in your car and in your purse so you always have them on hand
Lip Balms
Lip Balms are one of the best ways to protect your lips this winter. The ones that we are featuring in the photo slider below are some of our favorites- they are. We use these daily. Love the Kiehl’s Butterstick Lip Treatment- it has a Broad Spectrum SPF of 30. Buy a bunch for your purse, beach bag and car then layer your lip stick over it.
Lip Masks
Lip masks typically designed for overnight use. They have a thicker consistency and often remain on til the morning. A great addition in both winter and summer climates. Bev has used the Tatcha Lip Mask during the day as well because of the Invisalign Treatment she is under going. It doesn’t stain the aligners like lipstick does.
We hope this information is helpful and please let us know if you have some favorites that you’d like to share.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this post. Have a wonderful day!
