Barrel Jeans

Woman In Jeans and Blazer

Barrel Jeans

What Are Barrel Jeans?

We have discovered a demin silhouette that we really like! It is the barrel jean. With all the different denim choices out there you may not even really know what the barrel jean looks like. The barrel jean is high waisted with loose fitting legs and then the jean leg tapers down to your ankle. The hem will sit right above your ankle. Some people have compared this jean shape to a barrel! They remind us of mom jeans but slightly less baggy, and we feel they are another variation of the straight leg jean. The hem looks great just straight with a heeled shoe or rolled up with a sandal or a sneaker. This jean is a wonderful choice for summer and they are available in a various washes and colors.

The barrel jean looks great on everybody but especially women with a pear shaped figure or hourglass figure. This is the perfect pair of jeans for some body types. Val struggled with skinny jeans because she does have more of an hour glass figure and the skinny jean just emphasized her thighs. Not a good thing!!! The barrel jean actually makes your legs appear thinner. Bev considers herself more of a rectangle body shape and these jeans look so good on her too. Some barrel jeans have wider legs than others so consider this when choosing a pair. This jean most likely will flatter most figures. Do yourself a favor and try them on at your favorite retailer or order a few pair online. You will be surprised.

How to Wear Barrel Jeans

Barrel jeans can be dressed up or down. You can wear these jeans during the day running errands, having coffee with a friend or babysitting your grandchildren! They are roomy and allow for quick movements when chasing those little nuggets!

You can also dress these jeans up when meeting a friend for lunch or going out to dinner. Accessorizing these jeans with a purse, belt and jewelry will quickly elevate the look.

Barrel Jeans Dressed Up

We styled these barrel jeans with the Captains Blazer at Banana Republic and black pumps for a more dressed up look. We have featured this blazer a few times. It is a great profile and has that Veronica Beard feel with the gold buttons, double breasted and wide lapels. The lower cost is a plus as well. This look is perfect for the cooler spring days we have in Michigan.

The Barrel Jean can be styled for a casual look too…even sneakers will work! The versatility of this jean will make getting ready in the morning pretty easy. This jean will look better with tops that fit closer to the body and a cute jacket that hits about waist high if it is chilly outdoors.
