Bathing Suit Season Is Still In High Gear

Yes..we know!! Trying on bathing suits can be very intimidating! However, the bathing suit season is still in high gear and we’re pretty sure that you will want to jump in a pool or lake to cool off during the August heatwave. The funny thing is Val is currently trying on her North Face coat from the anniversary sale. Hahaha! We digress- back to the bathing suit situation. This is a great time of year to buy a bathing suit. Most of us have been out in the sun at least a little and everyone knows having a little color on your skin makes looking at yourself in a bathing suit more palatable. This post includes some of our favorites….some we own and some we want to own (and may!!)

We have put together some tips for bathing suit shopping that we hope will make the process less painful! Here we go!

1.) Know what parts of your body you feel are your assets. This will help when trying to find a suit that is the most flattering for your figure. If you have this figured out before you go to the store it will be helpful especially when discussing this with the sales person. An example of this would be…. I need coverage for my stomach, or I may need an underwire in my bathing suit for additional support.

2.) Use some self tanner the night before or better yet over a couple days ….. it really does help with the overall look…makes you look slimmer… and more importantly lifts your self confidence. If you would like some additional information on self tanning please read our previous post here.

3.) When purchasing a bathing suit you will usually have to size up.

4.) Find a store that you only have to change out of your regular clothes ONCE! We don’t like pulling a couple bathing suits….trying them on…deciding you don’t like them and having to get dressed and go out on the floor and pick out a few more. It takes so much time and also you may get aggravated and just leave! Our favorite place to shop for bathing suits is Everything But Water. The staff is well educated on their merchandise. You tell them what you are looking for including size and color. They put you in a dressing room and you try on bathing suits until you find the right one!! Yea! Mission accomplished!

5.) An alternate idea is order online so you can try them on in the privacy of your own home. Then you can ask your husband what he thinks…..JUST KIDDING!!!!!

6.) If you have scheduled a day at the pool with your grandkids make sure you are wearing a bathing suit that has some coverage on top. Val is speaking from experience on this. She was at the pool with her grandkids….one grabbed her bathing suit top …… and there was an incident if you knew what we mean!!
