Belt Basics

A good belt is one accessory that can elevate and complete any outfit. Belts live at the intersection of function & style. Curating this part this of your wardrobe will add polish to any look. Start with the basics and branch off from there. We both like belts and have quite a few, however, there are some that are worn on repeat. We have created a list that contains basics and statement options for you to explore. Also, we will share tips on how we like to style belts as well.

Basics

A leather belt in black, brown and off white can take you throughout the year. Brown shades can be luggage tan, cocoa brown, mahogany- choose the color that matches shoe choices. Typically the 1 1/2 inch width is the universal size that fits in most belt loops. Have you ever been rushing to get dressed only to find the belt is too wide for the loops- uggggghhhhh- there goes your zen!!! A black patent leather belt and a raffia belt are basics as well.

Honorable Mention- Basic

The Tory Burch 1 1/2 Miller Reversible Belt in Black/Classic Cuoio (this is a beautiful luggage tan color) and Gold is an excellent basic leather belt. Elevated Basics

This belt should still fit in standard belt loops. Leopard, snakeskin and suede belts are elevated basics just to name a few. A black belt with a silver belt buckle adorned with turquoise also makes a fabulous elevated basic and a statement!

Statement Belts

This belt is your bling! These belts are gold or silver, chain belts, or embellished belts. Leather belts that are perfect for a black sweater dress to add some drama. We especially love the Ann Fontaine belt you can see below. These belts are thicker than normal. They can be worn over vests or blazers too! We feel designer belts certainly fit this category.
