Jackets For Fall

- September 14, 2023
We don’t know why so many people-us included- love the Fall Season. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that here in the Midwest, the changing colors of the leaves bring out the most beautiful shades of green, yellow, orange, brown and red. Against the backdrop of a clear blue sky, few things in nature compare to this brilliant display of color. What better way to experience this than to go outside and enjoy.
With the cooler temperatures you’re going to need a jacket and that is where we can help. We have checked out the fall jackets and found some wonderful options for you. Some of them we already own and others we would love to add to our closets.
We realize that not everyone needs the same type of fall jacket based on where you live. We have broken our selections into seven categories that we feel meet the needs of most fall wardrobes. Maybe this is another reason we love Fall- all the clothes that we get to play with.
Jackets For Fall
Denim Jackets
Denim is basically a year round choice that is a durable and versatile jacket. They can be worn for years and years making this quite a workhorse in anyone’s closet. Find a variety of colors for your wardrobe- Black, Blue and White is a good start. Levi’s always is a good place to start to find a style that you like. Also look at Liverpool, Rails, Kut from the Kloth and Pistola as brands that have many choices for you.

Sweater Jackets
Sweater Jackets are another year round choice in neutral colors. The J Crew Juliette collarless sweater blazer is great for this time of year. It also is the perfect travel piece- Bev has it in camel and loves it. J Crew has a large selection this year of sweater jackets. Click here to go to J Crew.

Tweed Jackets
Tweed is mostly worn in the fall and winter because of it’s substantial thickness. This is a versatile piece that looks good styled with jeans, wool pants, skirts and dresses. Ann Taylor, Eileen Fisher, J Crew all have great selections.

Quilted Jackets
The Quilted Jacket is a very casual look and perfect for any outdoor activity. Barbour has a wonderful selection. Athleta has a beautiful Whisper Featherless Jacket that Val has and loves it. Quilted vests are also a Fall look that we wear. Quilted vests are sporty enough for golf, pickleball and paddle ball.

Sherpa and Fleece Jackets
Sherpa and Fleece Jackets- again a perfect choice for Fall when the temperatures start to drop and you need something lighter than a winter coat. Val has a few of these and they are a great choice for running errands and walking the dog. Please check out this one by Ann Taylor and this one by Ugg. Love this.

Trench Coat
A Trench Coat is lightweight and adds classic style to any look. These can be worn with any elevated look over a dress or wide leg pants. We found a cute crop trench blazer- click here. It’s very value oriented compared to the Burberry one. We would style this crop trench blazer with a high-waisted jean or trouser, booties and a beautiful sweater or blouse underneath.
