Our Favorite Beauty Products

Does the magnitude of beauty products out there ever intimidate you? Who isn’t- with all of the serums, creams, ingredients, clean, SPF. We struggle as well to find the products at the intersection of living up to their claims and a good price point. That’s why today we are sharing with you our favorite beauty products. Both of us have personally tried these products and we can tell you from personal experience- they do work.

Our Favorite Beauty Products

Let’s take you through the order of the products we use. We broke this down to categories-Cleansing, Toning, Serums, Creams and Moisturizers and additional products like Sunscreens and tinted moisturizers with sunscreens.

Cleansers

The benefits of using balm cleansers is how gentle they are for your skin. The two that we love are the Colleen Rothschild- Radiant Cleansing Balm and Bobbi Brown Extra Cleansing Balm. Warm a small amount in your hands, then massage on face to remove make-up and other impurities leaving the skin cleansed and nourished. They are also excellent for eye makeup removal. The Colleen Rothschild Balm has notes of clove and rosemary, while the Bobbi Brown has notes of citrus.

Toners

Toners remove the last bit of impurities on your skin, minimize your pores and soothes and refreshes your skin. Some of our favorites are Thayers Alcohol free Witch Hazel Toner with rose petal and aloe and Phytomer Rosee Visage Toner and Cleansing Lotion. Another time tested product is the Lancome Tonique Douceur Softening Hydrating Toner.

Serums

Daytime Serums

This category has many possibilites. Hyaluronic acid is a prime ingredient for most morning serums because it helps retain water in the skin. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Serum, Alastin HA Immerse Serum, Juice Beauty Anti Wrinkle Booster Serum, and SkinMedica HA 5.

Nightime Serums

It’s recommended to have retinol and Vitamin C in your serum for evening use. Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair and SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic antioxidant Serum are good choices. Other tried and true are Estee Lauder Night Repair and Immortelle Overnight re-set in oil serum by L’Occitane.

Creams and Moisturizers

Again, so many creams and moisturizers to choose from. The one thing to consider is sticking with a product line for serums, moisturizers and eye cream. The brands have developed these products to work together. However, how well you think it works is what matters the most!!

Eye Creams

While we may be tempted to use a lot of eye cream on each eye, less is more in this instance. The unwritten rules for eye cream application -the amount for each eye should be the size of a piece of rice and tap in with your ring finger because it is a light touch. Our favorites- Neutrogena Hydro Boost, Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti Wrinkle Eye Treatment, Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Eye Cream, Neocutis Lumiere Firm Riche and Skin Medica TNS Eye Repair.

Facial Creams and Moisturizers For Daytime

Daytime Moisturizers should be heavier and contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid that keeps your skin hydrated and attracts water to your skin. Look for moisturizers that hydrate the skin, protect against environmental damage and supports production of elastin and collagen. Our favorites- SkinCeuticals AGE Interrupter Advanced, Juice Beauty Anti Wrinkle Moisturizer, Neutrogena Hydro Boost, PCA Skin Hydraluxe Intensive Moisturizer and Alastin Ultra Nourishing Moisturizer.

Facial Creams and Moisturizers For Nightime

Facial Creams and Moisturizers should contain ingredients like retinols, alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) and antioxidants. These ingredients provide deep hydration, stimulate cell turnover and collagen production. Our favorites- Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream, SkinCeuticals AGE Interrupter Advanced and Alastin Restorative Skin Complex.

Additional Products

Exfoliants

Exfoliating your face helps to even out skin tones and brightens the skin’s appearance by sloughing off the dull and dead cells. Phytomer Peeling Vegetal Exfoliant exfoliates gently without drying the skin. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is also a gentle product- rice based.

Neck Creams

Neck creams have a heavier feel to them. Skin Medica Neck Correct and Alastin Restorative Neck Complex are two we have tried.

Facial Sunscreens

Favorites here are the Alastin Hydra Tint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sun Screen SPF 36 and La Roche-Posay Anthelios Clean Skin SPF 60 Dry Touch.
