Pretty Spring Nails….We Nailed It!

Nail Polish Ideas For Summer

We love some of the new spring shades we discovered for our mani’s and pedi’s this year! We are certainly ready for spring and since many of us are also taking a break from winter and going south it is a good time to pick out a few new shades of nail polish. We usually like a neutral or white shade for our nails…such a clean and fresh look. Another story with pedicures…bright and beautiful colors are the way to go!!

Doing Your Own Manicure

Bev has done her own manicure for years. Working as a dental hygienist, she needed to have well manicured nails in subtle natural colors. The gloves and frequent hand washing are very tough on a manicure so she figured every 5 days she could just do her own. Using a light polish color makes chips less noticeable.

Gather your tools- nail polish remover, cotton balls, nail clippers, nail file, cuticle oil, hand cream, base coat, nail polish and top coat

File your nails, use hand cream and cuticle oil- push cuticles back and/or trim cuticles. Remove the current polish.

Choose a base coat. Bev likes the Orly Base Coat Nail Defense. It helps to strengthen weak nails.

Choose a color- this is the Best Part!!! Remember, when using a lighter color, apply a thicker coat of polish for maximum coverage.

Choose a top coat. Bev uses Seche Vite Top Coat Quick Drying. It is the best!!!

If you enjoy having your mani and pedi’s done at a salon and live in Birmingham, Michigan or the surrounding area Colorbox is absolutely the best. Val has been going there for many years and definitely gives it a thumbs up. In addition to mani and pedi’s Colorbox offers facials, massages and many other beauty treatments!

The spring nail colors this season are a perfect compliment to your lighter spring and summer clothes. Although the winter here in the midwest has been pretty mild compared to others we are still excited about the warm weather around the corner!

Let us know if you have a favorite nail shade we didn’t uncover! Always on the search for new ideas.
