The Perfect Accessory – Fall Purses!

We are still in a state of disbelief that the summer is over and fall is in full swing. It is definitely cooling off in the Midwest and even some of the leaves are starting to turn. This is truly the most beautiful time of year in the midwest!

We are also starting to transition our closets from summer to fall and that includes our clutches, crossbody and shoulder bags. We will certainly miss our straw totes but when you see the beautiful bags that are out this season you will not miss them for too long!

Crossbody Purses

We have to say that the crossbody purse is probably our favorite bag. A crossbody bag is basically a bag with a long strap that can be worn diagonally across that body, with the bag hanging at around hip length on the opposite side. Why is this so great! The main advantage is you have your hands free while carrying the bag.

The benefit of the crossbody bag is it is easier on the shoulders…the weight is more evenly distributed. They come in many sizes too from small bags to large. Some of the bags are available with multiple pockets and some zippers and a side pocket to put your cell phone! The bag remains close to your body making it more difficult for someone to steal your private belongings!

The crossbody bag is an ideal bag to take when you are shopping…we know because we shop a lot!!

Fall Totes

A tote bag is usually larger and is open at the top so you can easily slip in items that you need to carry. The tote has parallel handles and on occasion are available with a crossbody strap too. We both carry totes to haul around our computers and all the other notes we need to create our posts! Totes are necessary for most working women but they can also be very fashionable. Young mothers also favor them as they have so many things to carry around in the course of a day. With the wide opening at the top you can easily access whatever you may need to retrieve!

Shoulder Totes

A shoulder bag is typically worn on one shoulder nestled between your arm and your side. Usually shoulder bags have a single strap or a handle that can be worn over your shoulder. The shoulder bag is smaller than a tote and is easy to carry around. Unlike the crossbody bag the shoulder bag is not designed to wear across your body.

The Kurt Geiger Large Kensington Bag is probably our very favorite bag this season. It is so much prettier in person than the picture represents. The bag is a beautiful tweed with various shades of navy, black, red and sequins. The bag also sports the signature embellished eagle head seen on most Kurt Geiger bags. It also has a pull through chain strap that can be worn doubled or extended. We like this bag so much we may buy it for each other for Christmas! Don’t tell Nate and Tom as they think our Christmas gift budget is so much lower than the price of this bag!! Hahaha!

Clutches and Pouches

Clutches are typically small and are generally carried in one hand. Sometimes a clutch bag will have a detachable strap or a wristlet which you can slide over your wrist to carry the bag. The clutch bag was designed to be worn out to special events or weddings when you really only need to carry your phone, license, a tube of lipstick and your keys!

Clutches, Mini Hobo and Phone Crossbody

A hobo or mini hobo is a crescent shaped bag that has straps at each end of the purse. The material the hobo is made of is typically soft and flexible. It is definitely a bag that looks great with a casual outfit.

The phone crossbody is such a great little bag….meant only to carry your phone and your id. Simply drape it across your body and you are ready to go!
