Vests- The Ultimate Fall Layering Piece

- October 20, 2021
Here in the Midwest, Fall weather can vary widely throughout the day. The temps in the morning can be 20 degrees cooler than the afternoon. Layering a vest over a sweater and a light cotton top gives you the versatility during the day to prevent overheating while maintaining your style. Outdoor activities are still in abundance….fall sports, trips to the zoo, cider mill and apple orchard outings, hiking and fall foliage tours. A vest has you covered. Also in the colder months, adding a heavier sweater, scarf and gloves allows you to adjust to the season.
Vests are lightweight, providing the perfect outer layer for shopping, running errands and travel-instead of carting around a heavy winter coat. We have found some vests that we love. If you are considering adding one to your wardrobe, we’ve got you.
The Zella Vest we are wearing is the Recycled Polyester Puffer Vest. It is longer in length, a perfect silhouette for leggings and boots. The belt adds style- you could always add a belt of your own or have your tailor remove the loops for a straight profile. Bev styled it with Spanx Faux Leather Leggings, her own sheer long sleeved top and over the knee boots. Val paired hers with Athleta’s Delancey Herringbone Tight, sheer long sleeved top and fashion tennis shoes.
We really liked the Zella Recycled Polyester Puffer Vest but there are many vests that are so stylish and functional. Check out our boards below for inspiration.
We featured vests today as an alternative to wearing coats. Let’s face it, you will have plenty of opportunities to wear one in the coming months- a vest changes it up. If you have any favorites let us know. We are always on the hunt.
