It is that time of year again….wedding season is here! What do you wear? This is the challenge…many of the dresses available are not dresses we would wear! They contain cutouts…slits as high as the thigh or even more interesting no backs! UGH! We have one point to make….even if you do not have a wedding to go to in the near future and you just happen to find a dress you really like….BUY IT! You will wear it at some point! We have done some shopping and found some beautiful dresses that we feel you will like for your next soiree!

Chiara Boni La Petite Robe is a line of dresses that we both love…yes..we own a few! Chiara Boni started her company in a little boutique n Florence in 1971. In 2007 she started La Petite Robe di Chiara Boni line of clothing. She found the perfect fabric! There are no zippers or buttons on her dresses! The fabric is similar to the fabric wetsuits are constructed with. One of the single biggest benefits is…this dress holds you in…smooths out all those unsightly bumps and no need to wear Spanx! They can be rolled small for packing…in fact they give you small bag when you purchase the items that you can use for packing and storage. Chiara Boni dresses are perfect for destination weddings or any other event you may travel to. Once you arrive, simply hang your dress up. No hemming…your tailor will simply cut the bottom of the dress to the length you want! You can wash these dresses..they can dry overnight with no ironing! Genius!!!!

These dresses are ones that we have and love. On the day of this photo shoot, it was pouring rain and we quickly grabbed everything in our cars to bring-afraid we would wrinkle these dresses and voila they held up.

One fact that we need to make is you pull these dresses up front the bottom. The fabric is very stretchy and firm. You will lose the battle if you try to pull it over your head- we’ve both made that mistake only once.

Styling A Wedding Guest Dress

Styling a wedding guest dress really is fun! Truly! You tackled the hardest part…you found the dress that you feel confident and comfortable in! Let us take you through the steps of styling a dress.

Picking the correct undergarments! It is essential that you pick the right bra and shape wear. Please refer to our post- Bras, Shapewear and More! All of our favorite undergarments are there- especially the Wacoal Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra. The molded underwire with light foam padding delivers natural shaping, support no show through. The removable straps can be worn conventionally, halter style, crossed in the back, strapless or over just one shoulder.

Shoe selection is the next step. The heel height is crucial for deciding on the shoe. You will be standing, dancing and having a great time for many hours. Only you can tell what you can tolerate. Remember, if the ceremony or any part of the event is held outside on grass, consider a block heel. In the Spring and Summer, metallic shoes are a beautiful choice. They are timeless and you will have them for a long time.

Choosing your purse- what should be considered first is what you need to bring in it. Often, just a phone, ID and lipstick is all that is needed most of the time. After that the purse can compliment the shoes, provide a pop of color for the outfit or have a unique element to it. It’s preferred, but not necessary to have a small strap of some kind for your wrist or shoulder. This makes holding a beverage and appetizers easier.

Last is picking out what jewelry to wear. If you have chosen a silver or gold shoe- go with the same tone of jewelry or a color that compliments the look. We like a formula for jewelry wearing that is 2 items of your choice- Statement earrings, statement bracelet or statement necklace. Never wear all three if they are statement pieces- either earrings and a bracelet or earrings and a necklace.
