What To Wear With A Pleated Skirt

Do you like pleated skirts?? We were not completely sold so we went shopping to see what we could find and how we would feel about a pleated skirt once we got to try on a few. We are here to say we really do like them!

What we like about them is their versatility. The pleated skirts can be totally dressed up or down and will transition well into the fall. A pleated skirt can be incredibly elegant and feminine, or modern with more casual flare. You can wear them to most special occasions or running around town. There are many ways to style a pleated skirt and we have put together a variety of ideas we hope are helpful!

There are many different styles of pleated skirts too. We are primarily featuring midi and maxi styles because that is the style we both feel most confident in. Feeling confident in what we wear is key as we age!!

What To Wear With A Pleated Skirt

A Great Cardigan

This beautiful Red Cardigan would add a pop of color to any outfit this fall! Red is one of the hottest colors this fall and if you like red it could be paired with so many other items in your closet. It also would be a perfect cardigan for your midi pleated skirt.

Wear this White Cardigan with your midi pleated skirt too. Layer it over a white tank and if it is cool outdoors you can always throw on a jacket.

Wear a Black Cardigan with your midi skirt. It is versatile and matches with everything in your closet.

Sweaters

This wrap Wilfred Dear Sweater in Heather Charcoal Grey Sweater is so much cozier and prettier in person than the picture depicts. It is a wonderful length to pair with your midi pleated skirt. The sweater made of a variety of fabrics including a hint of wool and cashmere. It comes in a wide range of colors too.

We both purchased this great black, lightweight sweater. The Whitney Sleeveless Knit Top is great and would look nice on its own or layered with a jacket or blazer when fall arrives with your midi pleated skirt. Constructed of acrylic and nylon it is so soft and comfy. It is a mock neck with a slight shoulder pad. Comes in toasty brown too. Bev purchased a medium and Val a small.

Everyone should have a top like this Sleeveless Turtleneck in their closet. It is so versatile! It would look nice paired with your pleated skirt but also with a cute pair of jeans. This top is an all season top because you can wear it under your favorite jean jacket, a blazer or a cardigan! Constructed of a stretchy ponte knit and a back zip closure too!

Classic White Shirt

We are in love with the Kate Shirt! It has everything…a v neck elbow length sleeves with a blouson (pushed up) effect, a button cuff and a scooped, shirttail hem! It comes in many other colors than white but a white blouse goes with everything and you can get more mileage out of it.

Bev owns the Good Shirt and wears it on repeat. Pair it with your jeans, pants, and a pleated skirt. Tuck it in, french tuck it or tie it in the front. Bev purchased a small as it slightly oversized.

Simple T-Shirts

A simple option to wear with your pleated skirt is a simple white tee. The tee can be layered under jackets and blazers as we transition into fall. We are featuring our three choices here, here and here!

Cropped Tops

We are not promoting wearing crop tops as we would not feel comfortable in them. These tops we have chosen are longer but yet cropped. Take a look!

Bev has on a Vince Oversized Cropped Top. You can see it is cropped but she has french tucked it and it works well with the pleated skirt!

Val has on the Theory Boxy Denim Shirt. We really liked this top and can see so many possibilities for this little top!

Jackets

This is a jacket we have talked about so many times in our posts. Pleated skirts pair well with cropped leather jackets. Bev owns the Holly Jacket in white and it is a beautiful jacket with so many fun details.

Cropped jackets look amazing with a pleated skirt and this Faux Leather Jacket is a perfect example!
