Why Sunglasses- Not Just To Look Cool!

We wear sunglasses- AKA Sunnies- not just for the cool factor! We wear them to protect our eyes from the UV rays that can have harmful effects on all the structures of the eye. Cataracts, light sensitivity and overall protection from the elements are the main reasons- besides hiding a puffy eye and dodging the paparazzi.

What To Look For In A Good Pair Sunglasses

UV PROTECTION IS KEY – Always purchase ones that offer 100% UV blocking. Make sure the lenses are dark enough. Put them on and look in a mirror-If you can see your eyes while looking in the mirror, they are too light.

CHOOSE LARGER LENSES – If you can wear them, the larger lenses provide more protection to your delicate skin around your eyes- it’s your call though.

MAKE SURE THE LENSE AND TINT IS OF GOOD QUALITY– Hold the sunglass at arm’s length, looking through for any imperfections or distortions.

CONSIDER THEIR USE– Make sure they will work for the right outdoor activity. You may need two or more pairs if sports are in the mix.
