A Great Black Dress For Fall

If you are on the hunt for a great black dress for fall, look no further than this post. We found this wonderful dress at Banana Republic a few weeks ago. Val actually tried it on a whim and next thing you know, Bev is trying it on as well.

Can we just talk a minute about the great designs from Banana Republic right now? Val had on this High Rise Taper Cargo Pant in our recent post about the Tabi Top from Avara. Very cute with the paper bag waist, subtle side pleat and color- perfect for this time of year in the Midwest. Bev bought the fitted ribbed crew-neck long sleeve tee shirt for under vests and jackets. Both love the Double-Breasted Blazer– the gold buttons and fit look a lot like a Veronica Beard piece at a much lower price point. We featured it here in our post on Fall Jackets.

Okay, back to this Black Dress. It’s the Off-the-Shoulder Sweater Dress. Currently, it comes in Black and Transition Cream White. It was also offered in Grey and Camel-obviously, too good as it is sold out. BooHoo. It’s very comfortable with the drapey relaxed fit on the top and the pencil skirt on the bottom. Bev bought the M and found the length to be perfect. Bev has broader shoulders making it more of a boat neck than an off-the-shoulder look. This dress is so versatile-isn’t that what we want?

Pair this dress with knee-high boots, belts and a scarf for a more casual look. It also looks great dressed up with booties, leather jacket and some statement necklace or bracelet that would play well with the subdued elegance of this dress.
