Ankle Boots? Yes you can!

We used to sweat it out when pairing an ankle boot with jeans, leggings, skirts or dresses? We thought- Does this look OK?????? What makes it even more confusing, ankle boots come in many profiles- short /long shaft and heel height. One ankle boot does not go with everything. Styling this look is all about proportion. You need a variety of styles of ankle boots to fit different outfits. Just another excuse to go shopping!
Three Different Types of Ankle Boots
Short Booties- these have the shortest shaft, come up to ankle.
Medium Length Booties- these have a 4-5 inch shaft.
Tall Bootie- these can go to mid-calf, but not a knee high.
Styled With Jeans
One major tip- keep the length of your jeans so there is no bunching of the hem at the top of the boot. Cropped jeans and skinnies are great. The cropped jean highlights and shows off the ankle bootie and you should expose a bit of skin! When showing skin you should only show a little and not too much. When pairing with skinny jeans, make sure a bit of skin is showing too- either the jean is short enough or cuff the hem. If you don’t like this look- wear with an ankle boot that has a higher shaft to tuck the jean in. This is such a fun and easy fall style. Keep in mind if you have a short ankle boot do not tuck in your skinny jean and if you have a tall ankle boot you certainly can tuck the skinny jean in. You shouldn’t have to hassle with the boot-hem connection!!!! Boyfriend, boot cut, trouser style, wide leg- all can be worn with ankle boots, just apply some of these tips.
The straight leg jean or boyfriend jean is another style that looks put together with an ankle boot. This jean is a wider leg jean defined by the width being consistent all the way down. You can wear your ankle boots with this style very easily by cuffing or just wearing the jean with a bit of skin showing just grazing the top of the boot.
The wide leg jean is a no brainer. No cuffing necessary!! This is such a fashionable look and it has been so fun having a different jean to wear that is not a skinny! Depending on the length of the wide leg jean they look well with medium or tall ankle booties.
How to Cuff Your Jeans
- A single cuff- roll up your jeans at the bottom once about I-2 inches.
- A double cuff- roll up your jeans twice to bring the jean up higher again 1-2 inches
- The Hidden cuff- fold the hem under about 1-2 inches to achieve a clean line.
Dresses and Skirts
Ankle boots look amazing paired with dresses and skirts too! No real rules apply here! We feel that the short ankle boot may not be the best look with a dress or skirt so pair with a medium or tall shaft bootie for the best silhouette.
Hope you are having a great October….cannot believe we are more than halfway through this month and the holidays are looming! Have a great day!
