Best Colors To Wear For Fall Pictures

We have both lived in Michigan since infancy and are true Michiganders!! The fall season to many in the midwest is our favorite and one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. Mother Nature is on fire! The trees are exploding with gorgeous shades of rusty oranges, yellow, red, and brown. The sky almost seems to change to a crystal blue. The air is cooler, the humidity is gone (thank goodness), and the cider mills are open! We love those cinnamon donuts and apple cider.

It is about this time of year we start thinking about fall family photos. With Mother Nature and fall colors as a backdrop you can truly get some of the most beautiful photos to share with family and friends for years to come. Another reason we like to take a fall family photo is you now have a family photo to feature on your annual Christmas card.

It is tricky selecting outfits for a fall family outdoor fall photo shoot. You want to make sure the color combination you choose blends well with natures bold orange, red and yellow accents. The family portrait should also have some conformity in the colors chosen so they all look different but blend in some way.

We both personally pick out our grandchildren’s clothing to ensure we will have coordinating outfits. Once our kids know what the palette is they select their own outfits to make sure we are all coordinated.

Best Colors To Wear For Fall Pictures

Neutrals- Fall- Winter-Spring

There is certainly nothing wrong with just sticking to a neutral color palette! This palette incorporates black, grey, brown and ivory. An example of some options you may have for choosing a neutral color palette are shown in the board below! Animal prints are a fun option too!

Blue-Cream-Brown-Denim-Fall-Spring

This color palette of Navy Blue, Denim, Cream and Brown plays well with the back drop of the Fall leaves. The Navy and dark Brown add dimension and interest. The Denim really pops.

Rust-Olive-Ivory-Denim-Fall-Winter

The inspiration for each family’s looks- together as one photo or individually these colors will work together. Also, it’s a good look for Thanksgiving as well.
