Charcuterie Boards Your Guests Will Fall For

Williams sonoma Marble board, assorted bowls and serving pieces from crate and barrel

A Charcuterie Board is a perfect fall appetizer when entertaining. With a Thanksgiving menu to manage, a charcuterie board is an easy solution to feed the guests before your BIG, GINORMOUS MEAL. We like cheese boards because it’s easy to personalize the board based on the guests personal taste. Another reason, you can personalize a fall charcuterie board for the fall season- a favorite of ours.

Charcuterie boards usually are assembled with meat and cheese, different types of cheeses like blue cheese and goat cheese, and some fruits for added interest like apple slices. We are sharing our personal input for charcuterie board ideas and hope you like them.

Charcuterie Boards

You do you- wooden, slate, marble, ceramic- you pick whatever snack board you like and what compliments your decor. Val’s favorites are live-edge wooden, decorated lazy susans and marble. Bev’s favorites are marble, white ceramic trays and live-edge wooden- what’s left! Click on any photo to be taken to the link for that product.

Serving Tools

Depending on what cheeses and meats you are serving- you may need cheese and meat slicing knives.

Bev– I usually slice the cheeses and meats- making it easy for the guests to serve themselves. I do have a few cheese knife sets for the occasional brick of cheddar or parmesan or wheel of brie.

Val– I too like to have the cheese sliced before hand and use a Tool- Crinkle Cutter- linked here– that has a fancy, wavy cut for cheese and vegetables.

Other serving tools that we like are spreaders for apple butter or pumpkin spice butter. Spoons, forks, a cheese planer, miniature tongs, cocktail picks, small bowls, cheese leaves and plates are also nice to have on hand.

Putting It All Together

The fall charcuterie board can be assembled with many different types of delicious food. You can find many of the items you need in your local grocery store or Trader Joes! At this time of year the grocery stores are carrying an abundance of fall foods. Remember to add as much fall color as you can by including small pumpkins and gourds.

First of all, lay out everything you are placing on your board, including bowls and serving tools- cheese leaves and garnishes. Say Cheese- choose three types – your favorites but it’s nice to have an assortment of textures and colors. Place the cheese on first- giving each their special place to shine. Then place small serving bowls in places that make the most sense- example stone ground mustard is so good with salami. Then add any meats next to cheeses that work well together. Next- start adding crackers, fruit, vegetables, nuts and garnishes. Love sprigs of rosemary, thyme or sage to add color. Then fill bowls with any mustards, jams, olives, spreads, honey, hummus and nuts. Leave room for the seasonal additions- like pumpkins, candles, cranberries, cookies, sprigs of any seasonal greenery, pine cones, flowers.

Tips For Your Charcuterie Board

Bring cheese to room temperature for an hour before it’s to be served. Great to have this done before your guests arrive.

Place the Charcuterie Board where the most guests gather- usually the kitchen- to kick start your holiday meal.

Have a fun time with creating this- your guests will love it.

We love organizing a charcuterie board! Have fun putting it together and use your imagination.

Thank you so much for taking time to read this post. Have a wonderful day!
