How to Make the Perfect Easter Charcuterie Board

Easter is just around the corner, which means spring is almost in full bloom. Easter is a wonderful opportunity to gather your family and friends together, and with that comes the need to prepare some tasty recipes to feed your guests.

Recently we shared some of our favorite easy spring appetizers, and it got us thinking about another dish that we love to create: charcuterie boards. We had so much fun putting together this 4th of July charcuterie board last year. Preparing an Easter charcuterie board can make the occasion more fun and special. It’s also a great way to use some of the amazing fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmer’s markets. So, with that in mind, we’re sharing our tips and tricks for making Easter charcuterie boards so that you can make your own at home.

How to Make the Perfect Easter Charcuterie Board

An Easter charcuterie board isn’t your average, traditional charcuterie board. While there are a ton of different elements to any charcuterie board, one with an Easter theme usually incorporates bright colors, Easter-themed sweets and treats, and fresh food that’s in season during the spring. Think flowers, bunnies, and eggs!

How To Make An Easter Charcuterie Board

Ingredients

Choose any assortment of the following ingredients based on the themed charcuterie board of your choosing.

  • Assorted cheeses (aged cheddar, gouda, Roquefort, muenster, manchego, etc.)
  • Assorted meats (prosciutto, salami, mortadella, ham, cured chorizo, etc.)
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Crackers (at least 2-3 different kinds)
  • Assorted nuts (almonds, cashews
  • , walnuts, etc.)
  • Dips (hummus, yogurt, salad dressing, mustard, etc.)
  • Colorful Easter candy (mini chocolate eggs, Robin Eggs, Peeps, chocolate bunny, Sixlets, Reese’s Eggs, etc.)
  • Easter desserts (carrot cake, Rice Krispie treats, cookies, cupcakes, dessert bars, Oreo balls, etc.)

Instructions

Step 1

Fill small bowls or ramekins with dips or small items that need to be kept together. Then grab a board, tray, or platter that suits your chosen theme. You can use a cute bunny shaped platter, an egg-shaped board, or something you already have on hand.

Step 2

Working from the middle of the board toward to edges, begin by placing the largest items in the center. It’s usually a good idea to start with wedges or stacks of cheese if you’re making a traditional charcuterie board. For a dessert board or similar theme, place the largest items in the center, i.e. chocolate bunny.

Step 3

Place the meats around the cheese, with room in between each meat for dips or sauces.

Step 4

Add fresh fruits and vegetables in the remaining empty spaces on the platter. Follow the same idea for a dessert board by placing medium-sized items next, followed by piles of the smallest items placed strategically around the platter.

4 Easter Charcuterie Board Ideas

Easter Egg Charcuterie Board

This cute Easter charcuterie board idea is inspired by fun and colorful Easter eggs. For this idea, start with an egg-shaped board and then add your ingredients in rows to mimic a colorfully decorated Easter egg. The more colorful your ingredients, the better.

Easter Brunch Board

For an Easter brunch charcuterie, it’s less about the board itself and more about the ingredients you include. Rather than including an assortment of meats and cheeses as you would for a traditional charcuterie board, a brunch-themed board includes breakfast items. Some of our favorite ingredients for an Easter brunch charcuterie board include waffles (with syrup for dipping), pastries, croissants, hard-boiled or deviled eggs, sausage or bacon, fresh fruit, and yogurt or parfaits.

Easter Bunny Veggie Board

This is a cute and easy DIY Easter charcuterie board idea. Start with a shallow bowl of hummus or veggie dip in the center of your board or platter. Then, using vegetables like carrots, olives, tomatoes, or asparagus, create a cute bunny “face” in the dip. Then fill the rest of the board with an assortment of fresh pre-sliced vegetables and crackers.

Easter Dessert And Candy Board

For this Easter charcuterie board, it’s all about sweet treats and desserts. There are so many fun ways to make an Easter dessert board, so we recommend following your tastebuds. You can include chocolate and caramel for dipping, plenty of Easter candy, and a bunch of little goodies like chocolate-covered pretzels, caramel popcorn, cookies, cupcakes, pies, and more.
