How To Decorate For Halloween!

How To Decorate For Halloween

Fall is the beginning of some really fun and exciting holidays starting with Halloween. The fall colors are starting to burst on many of the trees and bushes here in the Midwest and excitement is in the air! Everyone is decorating their indoor and outdoor exteriors for the spooky season and it is fun to see!

One of us (Val) takes this holiday pretty seriously! Val is hosting a cupcake and cookie decorating party for her grands in the next couple of weeks. The kids will come dressed in their Halloween outfits and the anticipation of seeing grandma’s Halloween wonderland is just too exciting. The kids are obsessed with Halloween and love to look at the halloween decor, the haunted houses, and to hear the scary sounds coming from the Halloween Village from Department 56.

Outdoor Halloween Decorations

How To Decorate For Halloween

Outdoor Halloween decorations can be simple and beautiful. Think about grouping mums, kale, pumpkins and gourds on your front porch or deck for a classic fall look. A pretty Halloween wreath on your front door is also another idea to consider. Keep reading for more Halloween decor ideas!

Halloween porch decor can also include some spooky, scary creatures so your tricker or treaters will be greeted at the door by a cranky looking skeleton or a giant spider climbing up the front of your house! Eeeeek! If you live in a neighborhood with many children they will truly appreciate you for your creativity!

How To Decorate For Halloween

Garland / Urn Filler / Outdoor Figure / Witch / Wreath

If you like to really embrace the Halloween season decorating your house with Halloween decor outside sets the stage for what your friends and family can expect inside! We really love the pre-lit Drippy Garland for your front door! Orange pre-lit black strands hanging over your front door will be a great beginning to your Halloween decor. The strands even rustle in the wind for extra special sound effects to make it all so much scarier!

Take a look at the urn fillers! Realistic skulls, pumpkin and roses with wispy feather and tendrils along with a matching wreath sparks an eerie first impression! The black witch can be located somewhere in your front yard too!

Ghosts / Pumpkin / Hay Bale / Wreath / Haunted Tree

Here are a few more ideas for you as you create your outdoor Halloween scene! The ghosts have pre-lit heads. Arrange them is a circle and watch the lights in their heads turn on and off! Definitely purchase faux hay bales…the real ones can be a real mess! Different size pre-lit trees with orange lights can be placed all around the perimeter of your front door.

Scarecrows add an element of fright and fear at Halloween. Having a few scarecrows located in various positions around your house will amp up your Halloween excitement. Witches have the same effect!!

Skeleton / Spider / Blackbirds / Skeleton With Dog

If you have a large foyer the stately gentleman skeleton walking his dog would be a decoration for you! Blackbirds peppered throughout the house remind many of that scary movie “The Birds”!

The spiders are a Halloween decoration that can be used both inside your home and as outdoor decor and is an inexpensive addition to your Halloween decor.

Skeleton Halloween decor

Dog / Skeleton On Bike / Skeletons On Teeter Totter / Skeleton in Cage

The skeleton dog is an animated barking dog. The dog is based on a little rock and it lights up and plays spooky sounds. The little dogs head mouth and tail move too. You can place the skeleton riding a bike on an end table or mantle. The headlight and the pumpkins also light up to entertain your little trick or treaters! Animated skeletons sitting on a tombstone teeter totter move, light up and play spooky music.

All of these skeletons will add humor and spine chilling fun to any indoor Halloween decor.
