With the incredible popularity of Pickleball, we are devoting an entire post to Pickleball Outfit Ideas. Bev and her family have recently gotten into this game and can see why it’s become so popular. It was created in the summer of 1965 by three dad’s because their kids were tired of their usual summertime activities. It is the fastest growing sport in the United States for the last 3 years with 8.9 million players in the U.S. over the age of six. All of those players need to wear something and we are so happy to help you find the right pickleball outfits and accessories.
Pickleball has been described as a mix between ping pong, tennis and badminton. The game is played with a paddle-type racquet and a plastic perforated ball that’s about the size of a baseball. In fact, the surface of a pickleball court is similar to a hard tennis court. And the size of the court is smaller than a tennis court. The scoring is a bit wonky to grasp at first, but once you master it, you are good. Learning new skills keeps us sharp anyway!!! If you have played tennis in the past you are at a bit of an advantage-no pun intended.
Pickleball Outfit Ideas
When Bev started playing Pickleball, she had some golf skorts that worked well if the length was a bit shorter. What she discovered when wearing a longer skort that had a straight profile was a limited side-to-side range of motion. Keeping this in mind and other considerations, we have found some great pickleball outfits created from high-performance fabrics with streamlined design elements that provide a full range of motion. When playing in the warmer weather, items that made from moisture wicking fabrics is a must. Also, choosing clothing made from fabric with UPF 50+ sun protection is smart. Our round up of styles are comfortable and chic looking on and off the court.

Most pickleball outfits look like a combination of tennis, golf and workout wear. Just like tennis, golf, paddle tennis, running, walking or working out- so make sure your clothing is comfortable and made out of performance fabric. Choose fabric that wicks away moisture and has sun protection for sunny days. Then add pieces to layer for cooler days. And we’d like it to be stylish as well.
What To Wear For Pickleball
Tops- Short Sleeve or Sleeveless
Sleeveless tops made from moisture wicking fabric are a good choice for mild to warm weather. Most have the UPF50+ sun protection and have a higher neckline or collar to protect the chest and also the back of the neck from the sun. Current favorites are the Vineyard Vines Sleeveless Performance Polo and the Pebble Beach Ottoman Stripe Polo -these both would be appropriate at a venue that may have a dress code. Long Sleeved Tops
The long sleeved tops in this round-up have sun protection UPF50+. Wear these on warmer, sunny days for skin protection or as a base layer on cooler days. In addition, make sure the fabric is dri-fit and moisture wicking. Favorites are the Cabana Life 1/4 Zip Sport Shirt and IBKUL Zip Mock Neck Sun Shirt. Sweaters and Vests
As the weather starts to cool off in the fall, a sweater or a Long Sleeved Quarter Zip with a vest is a great combo choice. A fleece, tech fabric or puffer vest would work. Skorts & Leggings
Right now a skort is what Bev wears paired with a top. Look for a skort that allows you to move side to side- like a longer tennis skirt. Tail Active Wear is a wonderful choice for 18″ skorts.
