Pucker Up… Balms And Masks Are Not Just For Hair

Pucker Up...Balms and Mask Are Not Just For Hair, 2-2021

Winter can be particularly hard on a Midwest lip. Snow, blowing winds…sometimes with wind chill temperatures hovering around zero or less, going from gas forced air heated buildings to the treacherous icy outside environment wreaks havoc on our lips! We also have bright sunny days where sunscreen is a must. Face masks only add to the problem! HELP! What is a girl to do!! Well..we have the answer.

Fun facts about lips:

Lips have no oil glands

Lips dry out ten times faster then the rest of the skin on the face

Basic Suggestions for Lips:

Do not lick your lips

Use a balm, ointment based product with sunscreen

Do not use lip scrub if your lips are peeling

There is a difference between Lip Balms, Lip Masks and even Lip Serums!

Lip balms are thicker and serve as a barrier to lock moisture in. Lip masks work to hydrate the skin on your lips and typically applied before you sleep. Lip serums are thinner and and formulated to penetrate deeper.
