Rain Boots for a Midwest Fall!

Bev and Val in tall black hunter boots

Our Fall in the Midwest has some pretty significant weather swings- warm, sunny days with the gorgeous leaves against the bluest of skies then ugh rain- bringing down those leaves mixed with water- you get the drift. That’s when you wish you had picked up those Rain Boots you saw online, in-store or on your friends feet. Do yourself a favor and check out some of the picks we’ve gathered.

Rain boots have come a long way and look quite chic. These are not your Mother’s rain boots. You may even want a few pairs to take you from fall to winter and from a night out to the apple orchard.

Rain Boots 101

  • Think of where you will wear these. If running errands, a short Chelsea boot style would be perfect. Working in the yard or slogging through deeper puddles, a higher boot shaft is needed. Going into work or going out, think something more fashion forward.
  • Most Rain Boots are in whole sizes so sizing can be tricky. Rain boots are usually designed to be pulled on and don’t have laces. That said, if purchasing online, read what the reviews say about sizing- some recommend sizing down or up.
  • Rain boots rarely have a lining – a sock liner sold separately will help with comfort and warmth or thick, wool socks are a good choice.
  • Rain boots have thin inner soles that can make walking distances uncomfortable and cold. A sole insert may be the answer and thick socks will keep you warm.
  • Remember to get a boot with good traction since you will be walking in wet or muddy or sloppy conditions. Check out the tread for your safety.

Don’t let the rainy weather keep you from doing you. A good pair of Rain Boots will keep you dry, warm and on task. Share some of your favorites. We always love hearing your ideas.

Thank you for taking the time to read our posts.
